Polyester Fabric – A Reliable and Cost-Effective Choice for Baghouse Filters

Polyester Fabric

When it comes to baghouse filter media, polyester (PE) fabric stands out as an economical and widely used option across multiple industries. With strong durability, great stability, and fair chemical resistance, polyester is a staple for many dust collection applications.

Economical & Versatile – Polyester is one of the most cost-effective filter media choices and is available in all common finishes.

Handles Dry Heat Well – Polyester can withstand temperatures up to 275°F (135°C), making it superior to many synthetic fibers in dry heat applications. While aramid and PTFE offer higher heat resistance, polyester remains a dominant choice for general dust collection.

Durable & Long-Lasting – With the right application, polyester filters can last over 80,000 cleaning cycles, making it a strong and reliable option.

Hydrophobic & Fast-Drying – Polyester repels water and dries quickly, which helps maintain filtration efficiency.

Balanced Chemical Resistance – Polyester performs fairly well in both alkaline and acidic environments, making it a versatile choice for various industries.

While polyester offers excellent benefits, it does have limitations. It is susceptible to hydrolysis when exposed to moist environments above 150°F, meaning it’s not the best choice for high-humidity gas streams.

Polyester is widely used for a reason—it’s a cost-effective, durable, and versatile filter media. However, selecting the right material depends on your specific application and process conditions.
